The Perfect Swing

Promoting his latest book, 'The Perfect Swing', Dr. Jim Suttie, the 2000 PGA Teacher of the Year,has written this extremely helpful and complete article.

He talks about power leaks that cause inconsistent ball striking.

Jim Suttie: Get rid of your power leaks; build a more consistent swing (Bonita Daily News)

When golfers come to me for a golf lesson, one of the main things they want is a more consistent swing. In this article, I will talk about those "power leaks" that will cause inconsistent ball striking.

If this article is anything to go on the book has to be amazing.

Some of the 'power leaks' addressed in the article alone are;

  • A weak left-hand grip

  • Setting up on your left side with open shoulders and a narrow stance

  • Holding the club too tight

  • Playing the ball too far forward in your stance

  • A fast backswing

  • A rolling clubface

  • An excessive long backswing and letting go of the golf club at the top of the swing

  • A flying right elbow

  • Excessive leg action on the backswing with no coil

  • Swaying to the right on the backswing

  • An arm swing only

Id be interested to hear from anyone who has actually read the book.
